DreamTemplate for Your Website

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Building your own website can be easy or complicated depending on which route you want to take. You can either make the website yourself or have somebody else do it for you.

Having somebody else design and develop the website for you would be the more logical choice if you don’t have the experience in web design. But if you want to get your hands dirty and learn something new along the way you might consider building the website by yourself.

If you decide to build the site yourself, you will need a graphics editor, a WYSIWYG HTML editor for more straightforward editing or a text editor if you only want to do some hardcore coding, a webhost where you upload your files and host your site and a lot of time to tinker with your website.

If you want to cut down on development time, you might want to consider using website templates.
Templates are for people who don’t want to spend big money on designers and don’t have a lot of time to spend designing their own Web site. Templates are for people who just want to select a great design, drop their content and text in and be done with it.

You can grab some free website templates all over the net. But if you are looking for high quality website templates you mind need to shell out a couple of dollars.

DreamTemplate.com

There are a lot of websites selling templates online. One of the few offering high quality website templates is Dreamtemplate.com. They currently have a subscription promo where they offer over 300 free templates and access to thousands for just $59.95 and the subscription is valid for one whole year! If you compute the price per template… it would turn out to be 6 U$ cents per template. That definitely is a great deal if you ask me.

Here are some reason to choose Dreamtemplate.com:

  • Build as many sites as you want
  • The freedom to use your templates for personal or corporate sites
  • Lifetime access to your design
  • Unlimited use of your template(s)
  • Unique Design Concepts
  • High Quality Graphics
  • Photoshop PSD Files Included in Zips
  • Optimized Images.

And that is not all. You also get access to over 50+ Brochure, PDF & InDesign Templates, 1000+ Royalty Free Stock Web Icons/Vectors and 160+ Joomla, WordPress Themes & oSCommerce Skins! How is that for a great deal?

Top 5 Camcorders for Consumers

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Why bother capturing that Kodak moment with a still camera when you can record the whole event as it happens with a video camera?

Video cameras have come a long way from the bulky tape based video cameras to the now ultra portable, feature-rich and easy to use camcorders. Even the latest digital point and shoot cameras and even phone cameras can now capture video. But if you want to get better video quality… you might as well stick with the real thing… a digital camcorder.

The new camcorders come in all shapes and sizes. Some use MiniDV, mini-DVDs, hard disk drives, solid state drives and flash drives. Most of these camcorders can also capture still pictures. Some camcorders can fit in your palm while some are as big as a lunch box. Some can record videos in high definition (HD) video while some still capture in standard definition.

Will all those things said, there are 5 camcorders for consumers that come to mind.
Canon Camcorder (Canon XH A1 HD)
This one has got to be my favorite. I’d definitely get this one if only money is no issue as this will set you back anywhere from around US$3,000 to US$4,000. Do take note that this is one of Canon’s top of the line prosumer camcorders.

JVC Camcorder (JVC Everio GZ-HD3)
This one gets my 2nd vote. I would say that this one provides the most value for your money which you can get anywhere from US$700 to US$1,200. This one can also record in HD format, records directly to a buil-in hard disk drive and is very handy.

Sony Camcorder (Sony DCR-DVD205)
This one is would be the best option if you’d want to go for the dvd-recording format. Sony camcorders are known for their night vision feature.

Panasonic Camcorder (Panasonic PVGS12 Digital Palmcorder)
They call this one a palmcorder simply because it can fit in your palm. If you still want to record on miniDV then this should be a good choice.

Flip Video Camcorder
With a price range os US$ 130 to US$180, this would have to be the most affordable and the most portable option. This once fits in your palms and you can retrieve recorded videos to your computer simply by plugging it in a usb port in your computer.

You can check out more camcorder reviews here.

How about you? What camcorders do you want?

SanDisk FlashBack Adapter Makes Backup Effortless and Automatic

SanDisk FlashBack Adapter

SanDisk makes backup effortless and automatic with the SanDisk FlashBack Adapter which turns your SD memory card into a convenient and automatic backup solution in laptops.

You’re at a conference and someone spills coffee on your laptop PC, shorting out the system and cutting you off from your presentation and notes. Or your computer slips out of your hands and crashes to the floor. These are moments that everyone dreads, but today SanDisk unveiled a rescue option – a lifeline for laptop users called the SanDisk® FlashBack™ Adapter. This unique device fits into the ExpressCard™ slot of your PC, automatically and continuously backing up and encrypting critical data onto an SD™ flash memory card.

Whether your PC suffers a system failure or a full hard drive crash, the SanDisk FlashBack Adapter allows you to access your content safely from the memory card. Designed for the millions of newer notebook computers that have an ExpressCard slot, the SanDisk FlashBack Adapter offers a reliable, easy-to-use system to protect critical files by copying them automatically and instantly to an optional SD or SDHC™ memory card of any capacity. And with the backup card nesting completely inside the laptop, the system is literally out of sight. Nothing protrudes from the PC and nothing needs to be attached to any other port.

To use the SanDisk FlashBack Adapter, purchase an SD or SDHC memory card of any capacity and slide the card with the adapter into your computer’s ExpressCard slot, where it can be left for continuous backup protection.

This is a ‘set it and forget it’ solution for every laptop user with an ExpressCard slot who wants to be protected from unintended data loss.

The adapter comes with easy-to-set up software for Windows-based laptops. Once installed, users pre-select backup sources by individual files, folders and/or file types. Then the device backs up and encrypts the user’s data, images, music and other files – automatically and continuously – from the computer’s hard drive to the memory card. Backup occurs as soon as there is a change to a designated file, or when a file is added or deleted. There is no need for scheduling backups and no need for further user intervention. Also, the application has a handy screen indicator to show the amount of storage available, along with a taskbar icon that displays the ongoing backup status.

Restoring individual files, complete folders or the complete set of backed-up data is easy. Just open the application, log in to access, select the encrypted files on the memory card and indicate the restore destination. Voila – your critical files are back and they are within the same folder structure as the originals. Also, you can restore data from the memory card on any PC that uses Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista and has an SD memory card reader. The SanDisk FlashBack Adapter is not needed for this process.

“We all know that we should frequently make backups of our critical files. But most of us don’t get around to it because it seems like too much of an effort, or we simply forget to do it.”

This practical solution does the job and does it automatically. So if your PC suffers a breakdown, you can flash back to your latest files wherever you are. The SanDisk FlashBack Adapter truly gives you peace of mind.

For protection against laptop theft and to easily share backed-up files, the SanDisk FlashBack Adapter also offers users an option for backing up content online. This service is provided by BeInSync Inc. for a nominal fee and in addition to local storage on an SD or SDHC memory card (more information at www.beinsync.com).

Pricing and Availability
The SanDisk FlashBack Adapter includes a two-year warranty, a mini-CD containing the backup software and a user’s guide. The product will start shipping worldwide in Q2 and carries a suggested retail price of $29.99 (memory card sold separately).

Microsoft RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer for Windows XP

How many of you have a Digital SLR camera and shoot using the RAW format? So how do you preview your shots on your windows desktop? A majority would probably answer that they are using some 3rd party software that either came with their camera or they bought somewhere else online. That is just fine, but what if you just want to quickly preview those photos you have in RAW format. Firing up a 3rd party app would probably take long so why not preview it within windows explorer instead?
