Mac Games and More

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Mac lovers used to have both PCs and Macs simply because there weren’t that much games that can run on macs. That has drastically change these past couple of years especially with Apple’s adoption of Intel’s architecture which also brought about ease of development by the software companies.

Let us not forget those small but very addictive games. Take for instance sudoku, Jewel match for mac, neptune’s secret for mac and many more. If you like to be updated on those small and new games made for the mac, check out Mac games and more.

Mac games and more is a website that delivers fresh weekly news on both mac software and hardware. You also get to read reviews on some of the latest mac software especially free mac games, some mac shareware and even mac freeware.

Mac Games and More is maintained by Cate Defrise. The site’s main purpose is to help recognize and publicize the work of independent Mac developers who work really hard but seem to go unnoticed.

So drop by Mac Games and More for the latest scoop on those shareware mac games and help those mac game developers along the way.

World’s first Mac OS X Virus spotted

Friday, February 17th, 2006

There is always a first time ;-)

BEIJING, Feb.17 (Xinhuanet) — A mischievous computer worm has been found to hit Apple’s OS X operating system, believed to be the first such virus ever to target the Mac platform.

Called OSX/Leap-A, the worm is spread via instant messaging programs, according to a posting on the Web site of antivirus software company Sophos.

The virus is said to spread using Apple’s iChat IM service, forwarding itself as a file called “latestpics.tgz” to an infected user’s buddy contacts, according to the Sophos Web site.

Clicking on the file allows the malware to install and disguise itself as a harmless-seeming Jpeg icon.

“This first Macintosh OS X threat is an example of the continuing spread of malicious code on to other platforms,” said Vincent Weafer, senior director at Symantec Security Response, in a statement.

The worm will not automatically infect Mac computers, but will ask users to accept the file, Weafer said.

Symantec has rated the worm a low-risk security threat.

Apple’s Multi-Button Mouse

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

Apple has once again pulled another rabbit out its hat, this time Apple is showcasing an optical multi-button mouse. Yes, you read it right Apple has finally released a multi-button mouse. This mouse dubbed the “Mighty Mouse” has four main features.

The first feature is that it has multiple buttons (left/right and middle click ball). Though by looking, you couldn’t tell thanks to Apple concealing it all under a top shell design. Apple has designed special sensors in the mouse that will detect where your fingers are and predict your clicking intentions.

Secondly, Apple’s scroll ball offers you the ability to perform a 360-degree scroll via your fingertips.

Third, you can scroll either up, down, left, or right.

Fourth, Apple has included a set of four programmable buttons on each side of the mouse. These programmable buttons gives you immediate access to unique Mac OS X features like Dashboard, Exposé, etc…

Apple is pricing this mouse at just $49 dollars, and oh yeah its Microsoft Windows (Windows 2000/XP only) compatible.
