Still Wearing Eyeglasses?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Are you still wearing eyeglasses? How about contact lenses? Have you heard of Lasik? Laser Surgery? Curious but nervous, one gets intimidated upon hearing these words as these relate to surgical treatment of the eyes. As it relates to one’s vision which is an all too important and basic function in life, as effective and permanent solution to one’s optical impairments? Is it 100$ safe? Is it 100% effective? Will there be complications?

As Lasik surgery sounds intimidating, will the cost be as intimidating too or more intimidating? Certainly these are questions that come to mind that need to be answered fully to the absolute satisfaction of the optically impaired and those of his or her loved ones.

Vision, 24×7, is too basic and important to be taken for granted that one has to know if indeed Lasik would be the best and most effective solution. One’s level of expectation as to what one expects out of Lasik and what Lasik can do on the other hand has to be weighed.

Lasik surgery is basically laser surgery to correct refractive errors in the eyes. It is the thus the treatment that reshapes the cornea to produce clear vision. Myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism can be treated by Lasik.

An experienced ophthalmologist would be a reliable resource who will determine if one is a good candidate for Lasik as he can do a comprehensive eye exam and medical history.

Lasik eye surgery, to most patients, has been found to be a safe and effective treatment and has in fact gained popularity with more than a million people undergoing Lasik surgery annually. Most patients are happy and satisfied with their Lasik treatment as it has improved their visual activity. Those who had successful Lasik treatments can already do away with the use of eye glasses or contact lenses. They enjoy the freedom of clear vision of 20/20 at all times and even indulge in any activity without restrictions.

But it doesn’t mean that Lasik is 100% risk free. There has been a small percentage of about 1 to 5% who experienced complications such as sensitivity to light, glared vision, dry eyes, loss of vision clarity and sensitivity. The good thing is that this incidents have been kept to a minimum with the continuous advancement of technology.

So are you up to it? I know I am. Time for me to save up to be able to pay for that Lasik surgery.

Over 70% of Women are Not Happy…

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

For most people, a pretty face, a well endowed pair of breasts, a curvaceous body and a pretty pair of legs are the epitome of physical beauty of a woman. The basic presence of these four beauty check points dictate if the aspects of physical beauty are in good harmony.

With society’s current romantic attachment to sexy women who are well endowed which are further fueled by the video and print media as well as the internet showing off sexy women it would not be surprising if women who are less endowed in the breast department would venture to be tempted or be seduced into remedial measures that will address the varying degrees of inadequacy.

Some studies have shown that over 70% of women are not happy with whatever breasts nature has endowed them. More often than not most of women’s inadequacy and unhappiness on their state of breast are relative to size, shape or firmness. As to size, most women complain of having small breasts and that they prefer bigger breasts, thus resorting to option available in the market to achieve whatever size they desire just so they attain a sense of fulfillment, a sense of confidence that have long been elusive to them. It wouldn’t be surprising either for women with big breasts to long for smaller breast after having experienced back problems.

The problem with women’s unhappiness with their small breast size is that most of them think that the only option to get bigger breasts is through breast implants. But with multitude of possible complications involved in breast augmentation surgery, some women would stay away and instead look for alternatives.

As a matter of fact there are several ways aside from surgery to achieve larger breasts. It is known fact that women’s breast grow bigger in size when they lactate although it also reduces after lactating but a marked larger size before lactation.

Special diets better known as breast enhancement foods are also safe and less drastic alternatives. Among which are pills and gums such as the zoft gum.

Breast enhancement pills and creams to a certain extent have showed positive results. In addition this option is less expensive than breast implants as it is a fraction of the cost of undergoing a breast surgery. It is painless and also works fast.

Breast enhancement pills work by reactivating the mammary glands thereby achieving enhanced, larger and firmer breasts. Breast enhancement pills are very effective and it works even better when used in combination with breast enhancement creams.

Finding a product that really works is the salient problem with breast enhancement products. Breast enhancement pills and creams abound by thousands in the market. While there are genuine and effective products, there are also scams. In fact a significant majority are scams. Finding the best breast enhancement treatments available is therefore the key.

Easy Wiki with Wetpaint

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Search engines are online researchers’ best friend. Next to that would probably be wikis. A wiki is a type of website that anyone can easily edit and help grow through collaboration. Over the years wikis seemed to have replaced encyclopedias.

The most famous of the wikis would probably be wikipedia. There are a lot of others available out there but what seemed to have caught my attention is the free wiki service by wetpaint.com.

Wetpaint powers free wiki websites that are available to anyone and easy to use. In fact, that’s one of the many things that sets Wetpaint apart from other wikis on the web. Creating a Wetpaint wiki is as simple as 1-2-3, so anyone can start a free wiki website they can then share with their family, friends, and the friends they haven’t even met…yet

Wetpaint features everything you would ever want to start and grow a collaborative website. They give you abilities to easily integrate photos and videos, customize your own page templates, include attachments, dynamic page organization, privaye messaging, get notifications via rss and email and even monitor site stats via google analytics and sitemeter. And it doesn’t end there as wetpaint is continually adding features all the time, so there’s always something new for you to try.

So what are you waiting for? Start a wetpaint wiki now.

Health Insurance Online

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

EZ Insurance Portal is a one stop shop for all your insurance needs. You can get valuable information and advice when it comes to your auto insurance needs, home insurance needs, life insurance needs as well as health insurance online.

For instance, did you know that you can get group polices even if you don’t have medical coverage offered by your employer? With group policies, you can get lower premiums than getting your own personal policy. You can also find great tips and advice with regards to finding health insurance because of your old age, what health insurance troubles you should watch out for, how do instant health insurance quotes really work and even learn what a business health insurance is.

We used to say that for you to be healthy, you have to have a good diet and exercise and live a healthy lifestyle. But nowadays those things alone won’t cut it. Being healthy also means that you need to have a health insurance. We might be living a healthy life but we’ll never know when will disaster strike or when we will be involved in an accident.

Health insurance is entirely vital to you because of the high costs of healthcare today. The question becomes, what kind of plan is best for you? You have a few options when getting your health insurance:

Free-For-Service - This health insurance plan allows you the ultimate freedom when it comes to choosing a doctor. You choose what doctor or hospital you want to go to and then you go. Having this type of medical freedom will increase the cost of your plan. Also if the doctor you go to does not have a relationship with your insurance company then you will have to pay for the bill upfront then get reimbursed.

Managed Care - This includes HMOs and PPOs. With a managed care plan you are given a list of physicians and hospitals that are approved by your insurance company. You then must choose which one you want to go to. HMOs restrict your choices the most while PPOs give you a little more freedom. The benefit of managed care plans are that all your doctors will have working relationships with your insurance company and it costs less then a free-for-service plan.

EZ Insurance portal makes the whole process easy and convenient for you as they let you choose the right health plan based on what you need or want. They even have an online quick quote service wherein you can get real-time quotes from the nation’s leading insurance providers with the click of a button.

Medical Careers

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

The healthcare industry is one of the largest industries in the US. It is projected that medical careers will comprise 9 out of the 20 occupations that will be in demand within the next 10 years. As such there is an increase in the requirement for providing medical career trainings.

Logging on to Yahoo! Hot Jobs and searching for “medical” easily yields about 22,000+ jobs. Do take note that this doesn’t include results for medical doctors, nurses, aides, etc.

You don’t really have to study and practice medicine just to be able to have a medical career. Of course there is the usual medical doctors, nurses, dentists, physical and occupational therapists but medical transcriptionists, insurance coders, dental office admins, massage therapists are also considered medical careers.

You might say that working in the healthcare industry is difficult. I say that having the right training, education and experience would make it a lot easier. It would be best that you attend medical career training if you want to take advantage of the increasing demand for healthcare professionals.

Prevent Fire: Be Informed, Get Involved!

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

Prevent Fire: Be Informed, Get Involved! is the theme of the Fire Prevention Month for this year.

Fire Prevention Month

Fire Prevention Month is observed every year per Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A aimed at raising the level of awareness of the public of the ways to prevent fires and save lives and properties.

Here are some simple tips that could go a long way in helping with fire prevention (source: PIA):

  • Candles and Lamps
    • Do not set the lamp too close to the curtain; never read in bed by candle or lamp
    • Do not leave a burning candle unattended
  • Vehicular fires
    • Do not smoke or use an open flame while refueling and when inspecting the gas tank, the radiator or the battery;
    • Install a portable fire extinguisher in your vehicles
    • Check wiring insulation frequently to avoid short circuit
  • Cigarettes and Matches
    • Never smoke in bed (better yet, don’t smoke at all… remember! smoking is dangerous to your health!)
    • But if you still like to smoke… Do not allow cigar and cigarette butts into the waste basket.
    • Always have ashtray available in your home
    • Crush your cigarette thoroughly before discarding them
    • Strictly obey “No Smoking” signs
    • Keep matches and lighter away from the reach of children.
  • Electrical Equipments and Appliance
    • Unplug electrical appliance after use
    • Avoid octopus connections
    • Don’t replace a blown fuse with tin foil, wire or any other metal to short circuit the current. Use only approved standard fuse
    • Don’t leave electric iron with the current on
    • Never let electrical cords trail across floors or under rugs
    • Don’t hang electrical wiring cover pipes, nails, etc.
    • Avoid the use of illegal electrical connections.
  • When your clothes catch fire
    1. Do not run. Running fans the flame.
    2. Drop to the ground
    3. Roll over and put out the flame while covering your face with your hands for protection
    4. The victim can be helped by covering with any heavy woolen cloth to smother the flame.

It is always good to know the phone number of the fire station nearest you.

In case of a fire, do not to panic, stay calm but act quickly.

Do you have some other fire prevention tips you’d like to share with us?

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

Do you work in front of your computer screen non-stop for several hours a day? Do you exercise your eyes? Do you take breaks to give your eyes some rest? You better know how to take care of those precious eyes of yours.

Tanya Munshi wrote an article on Eye Care for Computer Users. Most of the tips mentioned are already known to most of us but it always helps that we get reminded to apply what we know ;-)
