FREE 1GB Online Backup from Tilana Reserve

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

The 9-11 tragedy made a lot of people and businesses look further into their disaster recovery planning and business continuity planning solutions. Data backup is an integral part of DRP and BCP. But performing data backups onsite alone won’t give you the protection you would need should that particular site be compromised.

The most common backup strategy that companies have is having a copy of their backup media on site and another one to an off site facility where they are stored securely. Bigger companies with bigger budgets who have several sites also tend to replicate their data across several sites to achieve redundancy and have a robust backup solution.

Backup solutions don’t need to be expensive. There are plethora of options you can choose from if you are looking for solutions to backup up your personal files. Take Tilana System’s Tilana Reserve for instance who offer free continuous data protection (CDP).

You can take advantage of their Enterprise CDP infrastructure running on their Cloud storage system which runs on fully redundant systems.

You can avail of their free service or opt for their paid services which gives you bigger online storage capacity.

SQL Injection 2.0: SQL Injection 2.0: Bigger, Badder, Faster…and More Dangerous Than Ever (Webinar)

Thursday, July 31, 2008 2:00 am
Singapore Standard Time (GMT +08:00, Philippines)

SQL Injection has existed as a very real – and documented – threat to enterprise security for years. While the concept is far from novel, the techniques, tools, and scope of SQL Injection attacks is growing exponentially – and at a rate that far outpaces traditional, time-consuming defense mechanisms such as code review. Need proof? A quick scan of the industry headlines produces a lengthy list of international SQL Injection victims, including the United Nations and UK Civil Service.

Join Amichai Shulman, CTO of Imperva and Director of the Application Defense Center (ADC), as he pulls back the covers on the next generation of SQL Injection attacks and provides directions on how you can protect your organization against these increasingly sophisticated and dangerous threats. Mr. Shulman will highlight how hackers are launching non-customized attack code via “botnets” and Google searches to distribute malware with lightning-fast speed and precision efficiency. This educational webinar will also feature live demonstrations of several different types of SQL Injection attacks. Specific topics that will be covered during the webinar include:

  • SQL Injection Cocktails
  • Mass SQL Injection Attacks and Google Hacking
  • SQL Injection Automation Tools
  • SQL Injection DoS Attacks
  • Lateral SQL Injection and other Database-Related SQL Injection Attacks

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Being an employee and having an 8-5 job is good since you get a guaranteed source of income. There are people who wouldn’t want to be employees forever. Usually people would get employed to a company, get some needed experience, develop connections, develop some ideas and later on venture into their business.

Starting your business from scratch isn’t easy. You could probably try venturing to franchised businesses. Or if you have a group you could probably join forces and form setup your business so you can help each other out and also share the risk.

You see big companies with the likes of Google and Microsoft buying smaller companies left and right. There are a lot of businesses for sale in the market right now. Friday, May 9th, 2008

Do you travel often? Have you booked your flights and hotel accommodations online? You are all set With just a few keystrokes and mouseclicks! Convenient isn’t it?

Looking for a hotel online used to entail entering either a zip code, state or city where you want to stay. You then get a textual list of hotels within the city, suburb or town that you have chosen. The thing is if you are not familiar with the area, you might not have an idea as to where that hotel really is. Wouldn’t it be great if you could look for a hotel using a map?

The guys over at TravelingNetwork.com just recently launched a new mapping feature to their website which allows the user to map hotels of any particular city within the United States! But it doesn’t stop there. You can actually pick a hotel and check various information about that particular hotel. The whole process is actually easy

Step 1: Pick a state
Step 2: Pick a city
Step 3: Pick a hotel on the map

Their system now even features the ability to add user waypoints to any map! Cool huh!?

So whether your looking for Chicago hotels or in Los Angeles, do check out TravelingNetwork.com to experience a new way in booking your hotel online.

Mac Games and More

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Mac lovers used to have both PCs and Macs simply because there weren’t that much games that can run on macs. That has drastically change these past couple of years especially with Apple’s adoption of Intel’s architecture which also brought about ease of development by the software companies.

Let us not forget those small but very addictive games. Take for instance sudoku, Jewel match for mac, neptune’s secret for mac and many more. If you like to be updated on those small and new games made for the mac, check out Mac games and more.

Mac games and more is a website that delivers fresh weekly news on both mac software and hardware. You also get to read reviews on some of the latest mac software especially free mac games, some mac shareware and even mac freeware.

Mac Games and More is maintained by Cate Defrise. The site’s main purpose is to help recognize and publicize the work of independent Mac developers who work really hard but seem to go unnoticed.

So drop by Mac Games and More for the latest scoop on those shareware mac games and help those mac game developers along the way.

Are You Ready for Windows Server 2008?

A White Paper presented by Global Knowledge

When you take your first look at Windows Server 2008, you’ll find that many of the traditional tools that graced Server 2003 are still present. Where things change is in the Server Manager console, which is really the “nerve center” of Server 2008. Parts of this console are simply convenient pointers to other administrative tools.

However, the “Roles” and “Features” nodes may be unfamiliar. This white paper introduces the Server Manager console and will help you find your way around it, so that you can get up to speed with Server 2008 more quickly!

Manage Your Book Collection with All My Books

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Do you collect books? I’m not really into collecting books but it just so happens that some books are given to me for free or as a prize from a raffle or a contest. If you’d ask me, I wouldn’t normally buy these books for myself especially if they are IT books. There were even several instances that I had several copies of the same book!

I have already given away several books which I believe I no longer need or would be of good use if it were in somebody else’s possession but my bookshelf  still remains to be packed! I have books on information technology, information security, certifications, inspirational books and even some health reference books. And if that is not enough, I even have more books in electronic format!

The problem I have now is that I can’t seem to keep track of the books I have. I have friends who would drop by my place and borrow a book or two and I didn’t have a way of tracking as to who borrowed what and whether it was returned to me. I was looking around for a software that could help me organize my book collection. Luckily I found All My Books by Bolide Software.

The good thing with All My Books is that it has  Book Sharing Manager which would greatly help if you have your books lent to somebody else. You can even import a list that you have already created either in text format or in excel.

I just love free stuff. Normally, an All My Books license would cost around US$ 34.95 but you can get one for free if you are a blogger simply by doing a review and blogging about it! How cool is that!?

So grab a copy of All My Books now and start organizing your book collection.
