Shell Fuel Savers Club
This post is long overdue. I was planning to post this around three months ago but I was too lazy to have the card scanned and post online. As the saying goes… better late than never
Various gas stations of Shell in Makati City were offering Shell Makati Fuel Savers Club cards. I learned about this went I gassed up at the Shell gas station along Rufino Street in Makati. I chose this particular gas station since I wanted to try out Shell’s new E-10 gasoline. E-10 is 10% Ethanol thus giving your car cleaner emissions and it costs way cheaper than the high octane gas and slightly cheaper than the regular unleaded gas.
There were only two gas stations in Makati back then where E-10 was available; the first one was in Shell EDSA-Buendia and the second one was in Shell Rufino.
I chose the lane that did not have any cars on queue. The gas attendant then asked me for my Shell Makati Fuel Savers Club card. That was the time when I noticed that the lane I was on was dedicated for Shell Makati Fuel Saves Club card holders only. So I told the attendant that I don’t have one and asked him how could I be a member. He then gave me a red card the same size of a regular calling card and asked me to fill it out. I gladly filled it out while he was gassing up my car. I then asked him what would be the next step. He told me that I had nothing more to do. I’ll just have to bring the card with me and present it to the gas attendant every time I refuel at selected Shell gas stations in Makati.
At that time the card was offering a 1 peso rebate for every liter you purchased. And the gas stations that joined in the Shell Fuel Savers Club were located only in Makati City.
Along came October 2006 when Shell gave out new cards for the Shell Fuel Savers Club. It was no longer limited to Makati Shell stations only. There are now selected Shell gas stations in Makati, Manila, Mandaluyong, San Juan, and Taguig where you can avail of the discounts provided by the Shell Fuel Savers Club card.
Pardon me for the crappy qulity of the scanned document but this is how the card looks like:

I’m not exactly sure how they can offer this kind of rebate but I’m speculating that since they can offer up to about 2%-3% in rebates to credit card companies… they could probably offer the same rebate directly to their clients ;-).
The card indicates that the offer is initially offered from October 15, 2006 until December 31, 2006. My guess is that they’ll be issuing new cards before the year ends and the new card will probably have more perks and a bigger area of coverage.
Nice going Shell Philippines! I do hope that other gas stations will follow suit in both offering this discount card and fuel with 10% Ethanol.

I got one too! err Two pala. I gave the card I received from Shell ACA to an office mate.
When I availed of the Php 3 per liter discount, I was given a similar card at Shell UN. Am using it now and hey, am presently using the E10 as well. Am checking if the 10% alcohol will have an effect on the performance. So far, no problem.
This discount card is far better than the points you will earn at Petron when you gas up and use your SM Advantage Card

Hi Sonnie,
Yes I also have two. I leave on in the car and the other one in my wallet
I missed the 3 Peso per liter discount since I was out of town.
Based on my experience, I noticed that the E-10 gives out cleaner emissions and my mileage has slightly improved. I used to average 9KM to a liter but with E-10 I’m now averaging 10.5 KM to a liter.
I guess I’ll stick to E-10 for now unless the other gas companies offer their own version of E-10

today i passed by shell ayala cor mckinley to gas up. i paid 300 pesos for e10 unleaded. low and behold after they gassed me up, my gas gauge did not move an inch. i complained because i was not dispensed any gasoline. the guy said their computers indicated that i was given gas and so maybe my gauge was wrong because my car was old. i demanded a receipt because i will complain to DTI, but their gas attendant and cashier insisted that they had given it to me, when clearly i was waiting for them to hand it over.
so to make sure it was not my gas gauge, i went to another shell station, the one inside the fort and gassed up another 300 pesos. surely my gauge went up to it’s usual level.
friends, shell ayala cor. mckinley has given me my third bad experience (the other two, they made me wait in line for 15 minutes for gas, just to tell me they were calibrating the pumps and were not selling any, and the second time the attendant almost pumped in diesel when i wasn’t looking. these days when gas is getting expensive, this shell station needs to be calibrated or audited. what they’re doing is no different from robbery. i will file a complaint against shell ayala cor. mckinley with the DTI first thing tomorrow.
in the meantime, don’t be a victim. let my experience be my own. DON’T EVER GAS UP AT SHELL AYALA COR MCKINLEY.
