Logparser 2.2.10

Friday, April 22nd, 2005

Log parser is a powerful, versatile tool that provides universal query access to text-based data such as log files, XML files and CSV files, as well as key data sources on the Windows® operating system such as the Event Log, the Registry, the file system, and Active Directory®. You tell Log Parser what information you need and how you want it processed. The results of your query can be custom-formatted in text based output, or they can be persisted to more specialty targets like SQL, SYSLOG, or a chart.

Most software is designed to accomplish a limited number of specific tasks. Log Parser is different… the number of ways it can be used is limited only by the needs and imagination of the user. The world is your database with Log Parser.

Google My Search History (Beta)

Friday, April 22nd, 2005

Remember what you saw on Google, no matter where you are.

Ever find what you’re looking for with Google, then promptly forget what you found? If so, you’ll enjoy My Search History, a new service on Google Labs which lets you view and manage your search history from any computer via “My Search History” links in the upper-right corner of your Google home page and search results pages.

My Search History shows you all the searches you’ve done on Google and the search results you’ve clicked on, and presents this information in ways we think are most useful. If you don’t remember an exact search query, for instance, but you do remember when you did the search, you can use My Search History’s calendar feature to check the searches you did on a given day and navigate to any of them with a single click. Full-text search over your history means you can easily find any search query or results page. We also show you related history over time; you can review everything Google has ever shown you about “apples”, “bass fishing” or “the wizard of oz,” for instance, by clicking the “Related history” link next to any search term when it appears.

My Search History also gives you useful info while you’re searching on Google. Next to your search results, you’ll see how many times you’ve visited a certain search result and the last time you viewed it. And if we think it will help you find what you’re looking for, we’ll grab pages you’ve already clicked on and put them above your regular web results.

Symantec Releases Public Beta of AntiSpyware

Thursday, April 21st, 2005

So heres Nortons take on a viable and lets face it, useful(!) AntiSpyware tool, of course you can expect that it will have more flexibility and features over Microsofts AntiSpyware (still in public beta, after more than 3 months and one major refresh).

Other companies are jumping on-board too, if you are a McAfee customer why not try their version of McAfee AntiSpyware 1.0, also a good choice if you prefer not to have a beta version of this useful tool on your PC.

One major difference between the three is that Norton and McAfee support other versions of Windows other than the Microsoft version which only supports Windows XP (and is free to all license holders of Windows XP, unlike McAfee and Norton AntiSpyware).

It seems that Microsoft have yet again set the trend and this will leave companies like Symantec and McAfee to reep from those benefits, and why not? Because after all, Microsft does well itself already don’t we think?

Yahoo! 360° + Yahoo! Alerts

Wednesday, April 20th, 2005

I really like Yahoo! 360°’s ability to make use of Yahoo! Alerts.

Yahoo! 360° gives you the option of setting up Yahoo! Alerts to be sent to either your email address or your Yahoo Messenger or both everytime you receive a new message in Yahoo! 360°. Although you don’t seem to have an option of getting an alert when you receive a comment to one of your posts.

Firefox 1.0.3 released

Wednesday, April 20th, 2005

A number of security problems were highlighted over the weekend, with details published by Mozilla, and a new version of the browser is now available for download.

The new download fixes half a dozen potential security problems with the browser.

More are bound to follow and new updates will appear too and hassled computer users, even those that think they are ’sticking it to the man’ by going open source, will spend as much time reading spam, checking for viri, fighting spyware and upgrading their browsers as they spend being productive.

VATICAN CITY, April 19 — Cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church elected Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany Tuesday as the new pope to succeed John Paul II, reaching an early agreement on the second day of voting.

He took the name of Benedict XVI.
